Saints League of Legends Qualify for National Championship

St. Clair College’s League of Legends team is heading to Philadelphia for the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) National Finals.

With a 7-0 regular season record, the Saints entered the national playoffs as the 3rd seed. Following a decisive 2-0 win over the University of Kansas in the quarterfinals, the Saints faced-off against 2nd seed Florida Southern College in the semis. The Saints proved to be too much for Florida, outclassing them on route to a 2-0 victory and a National Championship berth where they will meet the top-seeded Maryville University.

“The growth of this team has been incredible to watch. The hunger to win, the drive to improve and unrelenting effort to ensure success has been unmatched,” said League of Legends Head Coach Yuri Custodio.

First-year players Alonso Dvir, of Germany, and Rocco Mazzo, of the United States, had standout performances for the Saints in the semifinals.

The NACE Grand Finals will be played at Philadelphia’s Nerd Street Localhost from Dec. 3-4. The event marks NACE’s return to in-person competition and will be hosted by Villanova University.
